Stephen & Karissa Wynn's Update - January 2013
Thank you all for your faithful support and prayers. You all have been a source of encouragement and blessing.
As you know, since last May we have been restricted in our travels, due to a medical condition. The hope of the doctors and myself was that we would be able to resume traveling in January. However, after the latest test and evaluation at Emory Hospital in Atlanta, the doctors were not able to provide me with good news. They are still uncertain as to the cause of my medical issue, but the treatment has seemed to stabilize the condition for the moment. However, due to the uncertainty and the risk of extended travel, the doctors have informed me that I will not be able to resume travel for at least three years or longer. This is quite discouraging, because both Karissa and myself know the call of God on our lives. Yet, we are also confident in knowing that He is always faithful.
Therefore, we have asked our supporting churches to do two things. First, please keep us in your prayers. The condition that I have can become life threatening, if not properly treated. Other complications are guaranteed to arise, if I do not follow the prescribed treatment. Pray for us both as we continue to lean on the everlasting arms of our Lord.
Second, we have asked our supporting churches to suspend our support for the immediate future. We have spoken with our pastor, and we are all in agreement that it is not reasonable to expect any church to provide support when our situation is so uncertain. We would request that, when the Lord permits us to resume deputation, those churches would allow us to be reconsidered for support.
During this time of treatment and waiting, we will not be idle. We will both be involved in the ministry of our sending church, and will be working in the church school. I know that continued ministry experience will be a greater help in future mission work.
Again, we thank you for your prayers and financial support until this point. Please continue the prayers, but suspend the support for us at this time. We know that other missionaries, who are trying to reach the field, can use that support at this time. If you have any questions, you may call us, or our pastor, Dr. Marty O. Wynn at our home church. You may also contact Dr. Ernest Gambrell, Director of Fundamental Baptist World-Wide Mission board. Their contact information is at the bottom of this page.
Thank you for your partnership in the cause of world evangelism. May the Lord continue to abundantly bless your ministry as you faithfully serve Him for His glory.
